Lymphedema Management for Enhanced Recovery and Comfort
Bella Terra Streamwood’s lymphedema program evaluates and establishes a treatment plan for residents and is designed to reduce the swelling and control the pain associated with lymphedema. Our certified lymphedema specialist evaluates and manages residents’ conditions.
Highlights of the Program Include:
Bandaging and wrapping of the affected limb to encourage lymph fluid backflow to the trunk of the residents’ body
Complete decongestive therapy (CDT)
Exercises to help promote lymph fluid drainage and prepare the residents’ for the day’s exercise plan
Manual lymph drainage massage
Pneumatic compression and use of compression garments
Skin integrity promotion and maintenance through cleaning the affected arm/leg daily and application of proper emollients and moisturizing agents on the affected limb
